Nothing beats a quiet place to curl up and read when you have an hour or so to spare. Sydney has great parks and places where you can make the most of the sunshine and a fabulous book.

Try the Chinese Garden of Friendship at Darling Harbour—one of the most peaceful spaces around. There's a small admission fee but it is worth it. From the Town Hall, it's a 10 minute walk to Darling Harbour. The Chinese Garden is at the south end, near the Exhibition Centre. It's open from 9:30-17:00 every day.
